Logistics.co — B2B Custom Truck Builder
The Challenge: Escaping the Spreadsheets
Building custom commercial trucks is a massive logistical puzzle. Every vehicle requires specific parts, sub-components, labor calculations, and pricing margins.
Before this project, the end-client—a US-based logistics company—was managing this complex intake process using basic spreadsheets and manual notes. This analog approach created natural bottlenecks: sales teams on the floor had to cross-reference sheets to configure trucks, and management had a hard time tracking live order statuses.
Working alongside our US agency partner, the goal was clear: bypass the manual clutter and engineer a high-fidelity, structured digital ecosystem that could handle enterprise-level variables without overwhelming the end-user.
Operating as a specialized design partner alongside a US agency, our objective was to bypass the fluff and move directly into designing a high-fidelity, structured digital ecosystem. The client had a specific, utilitarian design style in mind, so our primary focus was on the underlying systems architecture and user experience.
The Strategy: Systems Over Screens
Rather than just making a “pretty form,” we approached this as a mechanical problem. The system needed to serve two entirely different environments: the fast-paced sales floor (needing mobile/tablet efficiency) and the back office (needing a wide-screen command center).
We bypassed the traditional low-fidelity wireframing stage entirely, moving straight into high-fidelity design execution to maintain high efficiency and align with the client’s utilitarian design preferences.
The Engine: Core Features
We stripped away the corporate fluff. Cue is designed on a core philosophy: if your team can tap a smartphone screen, they can use this app. By breaking down the task creation process into bite-sized, logical steps, we eliminated the cognitive overload that plagues standard productivity apps. It’s task management distilled to its absolute essentials.
Intelligent Dependencies (The Configuration Engine):
We designed a mobile-optimized build form that acts as a smart safeguard. Using conditional logic, the app “thinks ahead.” For example, if a sales rep adds a Roof Light Bar, the system automatically prompts the required Mounting Brackets. It also enforces admin-controlled minimum pricing, ensuring every custom build is accurate, complete, and profitable directly from the floor.
Role-Based Access Control (RBAC):
To keep the pipeline secure and focused, we structured the platform around three distinct user tiers: Admins, Sales Managers, and Sales Representatives. Each tier sees only the tools and data relevant to their role, reducing cognitive load and preventing configuration errors.
The Web Command Center:
For the management side, we built a dedicated web dashboard. This gives admins the screen real estate needed to easily create highly detailed part catalogs, manage bundled components, and track total business revenue across the sales team in real-time.
Frictionless Communication:
To bridge the gap between the office and the floor, admins can globally flag specific parts (e.g., price changes or out-of-stock warnings) to alert the sales team instantly. Likewise, reps can attach specific notes to parts during the build phase, keeping all context in one place.
The Outcome
By translating a chaotic, spreadsheet-heavy manufacturing process into a clean, logic-driven interface, we delivered a scalable machine. The final design provides the agency and their client with a robust tool that drastically reduces configuration errors, accelerates client onboarding, and turns complex truck building into a streamlined digital experience.
Project Impact
- Zero-Friction Handoff: Delivered a complete, developer-ready design system to our agency partners ahead of schedule.
- Complex Logic Solved: Successfully translated a dense, multi-variable manufacturing spreadsheet into a clean, mobile-ready UI.
- Agency Success: The streamlined design was highly appreciated by the US stakeholders, proving the value of our rapid, high-fidelity execution model.
Night and day difference. The older version felt a bit heavy, but this redesign is incredibly smooth and intuitive. I genuinely hope this goes live soon so my team can start using it.
I showed this to my team and they loved the simplicity. It has that easy, familiar 'Google Tasks' feel, but the collaboration tools actually make sense for a group. A really solid upgrade.
The management features are incredibly straightforward. Setup took practically no time, and the new UI is a massive step up. It just gets out of your way and lets you work
